Over the summer holidays we welcomed a large number of our new Year 7 students to Kingsdale for Summer School 2021. This year the aim was to not only help the students transition to secondary school, but also to catch up with learning lost as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The students had lessons taught by Kingsdale teachers in Maths, English, Science, Humanities, Languages, and Citizenship, as well as having enrichment sessions in Art, Music, Drama, PE and Circus Skills. Beyond this the Summer School programme involved games, assemblies, team problem-solving challenges, and day trips to Kidzania and Thorpe Park.
Supporting the students in school were a number of teaching assistants and support staff, including the school's trained mentors who have helped acclimatise the students in their new surroundings.
